Accessibility Statement

How we work to make our website and course content accessible to everyone

Effective Date: 14 May 2026

Version: 1.0

Last Reviewed: 14 May 2026

1. Our Commitment

Care Business School is committed to making our website, course content, and learning materials accessible to as many people as possible. We believe that learning to run a high-quality care business should be open to everyone, regardless of disability, sensory impairment, or technical preference.

This Accessibility Statement applies to www.carebusinessschool.co.uk and all course materials, downloadable resources, and digital content we provide. It explains the standard we aim for, where we know we have work to do, and how to contact us if you encounter an accessibility issue or need content in a different format.

2. The Standard We Aim For

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA is the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility and the standard recommended by the UK Government and the Information Commissioner's Office for organisations providing services to the public.

This means we work to ensure that our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for users including those who:

•   Use screen readers or other assistive technology

•   Navigate using a keyboard rather than a mouse

•   Have low vision or use screen magnification

•   Are deaf or hard of hearing

•   Have cognitive, learning, or neurological differences

•   Have limited dexterity or use voice recognition software

3. What Is Accessible on Our Website and Course

We have taken the following steps to make our content accessible:

Website

•   The website is built to be navigable using a keyboard alone.

•   Text content uses brand colours selected for high contrast against backgrounds.

•   Headings are used consistently to support navigation by screen readers.

•   Images include alternative text describing their content where relevant.

•   The site is designed to be responsive on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

Course Content on Thinkific

•   Video lessons use a clear voice with steady pacing suited to learners new to the subject.

•   Speaker notes accompany every slide, allowing students who prefer reading to access the same content.

•   Slide decks are available as both PowerPoint and PDF downloads.

•   Lesson quizzes use clear language and unlimited retakes, supporting different learning paces.

•   Course summaries provide a written overview of what each lesson covers.

Downloadable Resources

•   PDFs are generated from PowerPoint and Word source files and include text that can be selected and read aloud by most screen readers.

•   The Recruitment Compliance Tracker spreadsheet uses clear column headings and built-in instructions.

•   All branded design uses Georgia and Calibri fonts at sizes intended to be comfortable to read.

4. Known Accessibility Limitations

We are honest about where we still have work to do. The following are known limitations we are actively working to improve:

•   Video lessons do not yet include burned-in captions or downloadable transcripts. We aim to add these to all course videos by the end of 2026.

•   PDF downloads are generated automatically and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Fully tagged, accessible PDF versions are available on request.

•   PowerPoint slide decks include speaker notes that contain the spoken content, but may not have full alternative text on all decorative graphic elements. We are auditing all source files to address this.

•   The website has not yet been formally audited by an independent accessibility expert. We plan to commission an audit within 12 months of launch.

•   Some embedded third-party platforms (Thinkific, payment processors, video hosts) have their own accessibility levels. Where these fall short of our target standard, we work with users to provide alternative ways to access the same content.

5. Asking for Content in a Different Format

We understand that some learners may need information in a different format. If you need content in any of the following ways, please contact us and we will provide it free of charge within a reasonable time:

•   Large print versions of slide decks or worksheets

•   Plain text or text-only versions of any visual content

•   Transcripts of video lessons

•   Audio recordings of written content

•   Easy-read summaries of key concepts

•   Content in another language (subject to availability)

Please email hello@carebusinessschool.co.uk with your request. Tell us which lesson or resource you need, and the format that works best for you. We will aim to respond within 5 working days and provide the alternative format within 20 working days. For complex or large requests, we will agree a realistic timescale with you.

6. Reporting an Accessibility Problem

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and course content. If you find something difficult to use, hear about a problem from someone else, or have a suggestion for improvement, please let us know.

Email us at hello@carebusinessschool.co.uk with as much detail as you can provide. Please include:

•   The page or resource you were trying to use (a URL or lesson name is ideal)

•   What you were trying to do

•   The problem you encountered

•   Any assistive technology you were using, if relevant

We will respond within 5 working days. Where the issue can be fixed quickly, we will do so. Where the issue requires a larger change, we will explain the timeline and keep you updated.

7. Enforcement and Your Rights

Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage compared to non-disabled people.

If you contact us with an accessibility complaint and you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to seek advice or take further action. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010. They can be contacted via www.equalityhumanrights.com.

If you live in Northern Ireland and wish to complain about an accessibility issue, you can contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland via www.equalityni.org.

8. Technical Information About Accessibility

Care Business School is committed to making our website accessible in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, due to the known limitations listed in Section 4. We are actively working to address these limitations.

Content Outside the Scope of Accessibility Regulations

Some content on our website and within our course materials may fall outside the scope of mandatory accessibility regulations, including third-party content, archived materials, and live event recordings published before the most recent accessibility review. Where this applies, we aim to provide accessible alternatives on request.

Preparation of This Statement

This statement was prepared on 14 May 2026. It is based on a self-assessment of the website and course content by Care Business School. We plan to commission an independent accessibility audit within 12 months of the course launch and will update this statement based on the findings.
